Recap: Woodruff Wolverines vs. Clinton Red Devils

After a string of three wins, the Woodruff Wolverines's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They suffered a tough 44-18 defeat at the hands of Clinton. Woodruff found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 13 to 4 on offense.

Jaylen Means was Woodruff's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Sadie Burnette held things down on the boards with six rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Clinton found their leader in underclassman Mylayja Thompson, who scored eight points along with nine steals and five rebounds. Thompson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of McKenzie Clark, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.

Woodruff's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Clinton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Woodruff's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Centurions at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in South Carolina (Broome is ranked 167th, while the Wolverines are ranked 176th). Clinton's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Cyclones at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Chester is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
