Basketball Game Preview: Sandy Creek Cougars vs. Howells-Dodge Jaguars

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Sandy Creek Cougars face off against the Howells-Dodge Jaguars at 5:30 p.m. on Friday... The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Sandy Creek has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Howells-Dodge will arrive with three straight victories.

Last Saturday, Sandy Creek ended up a good deal behind Doniphan-Trumbull and lost 81-63. The Cougars were down 70-50 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the defeat, Sandy Creek got top-tier performance from Ethan Shaw, who went 10 of 15 en route to 26 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Wes Biltoft, who went 6 of 7 on his way to 13 points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Sandy Creek was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Howells-Dodge earned a 47-39 win over Humphrey-Lindsay on Monday.

Sandy Creek's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Howells-Dodge, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Sandy Creek might still be hurting after the 47-22 defeat they got from Howells-Dodge in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can Sandy Creek avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
