Basketball Recap: East Grand Forks Comes Up Short

East Grand Forks was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 78-74 to the Ada-Borup Cougars, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. If the Green Wave were looking for revenge after losing 64-54 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Ada-Borup had a senior duo take command as Austin McCraven almost dropped a double-double with 29 points and nine rebounds and Mason Larson went 7-for-12 en route to 20 points and six boards. The matchup was Larson's third in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anders Tinjum, who posted 13 points.

East Grand Forks' loss dropped their record down to 19-9. As for Ada-Borup, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season.

East Grand Forks and Ada-Borup should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Minnesota Rankings. East Grand Forks will challenge Park Rapids at 7:00 p.m. on Monday up 157 places (52 vs. 209). Similarly, Ada-Borup (ranked 44th) will meet Rothsay (ranked 307th) at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
