Manchester and Liberty Union squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Manchester had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 4-2. The Panthers' loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.

Rachel Baker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Alli Hodgkinson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Cayleigh Bowe was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Manchester's defeat dropped their record down to 25-6. As for Liberty Union, the victory was the 23rd in a row for them, bringing their record up to 29-1.
