Rocky Mountain Lutheran hasn't had much luck against Flatirons Academy recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Eagles will square off against the Bison at 4:00 p.m. Rocky Mountain Lutheran is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Rocky Mountain Lutheran came out on top against Denver Academy on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Eagles' pitcher stepped up to hand the Mustangs a 5-0 shutout. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.
Blake Harris made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for Rocky Mountain Lutheran: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-5 otherwise.

Like Rocky Mountain Lutheran, Flatirons Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Mateo Pope. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Pope was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Pope wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Braxton Kelley, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Rocky Mountain Lutheran's record now sits at 9-5. As for Flatirons Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-5.
Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Rocky Mountain Lutheran has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .468. However, it's not like Flatirons Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .529. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rocky Mountain Lutheran might still be hurting after the 17-2 loss they got from Flatirons Academy in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
