Football Recap: Morgan Bollin Leads Valencia's Defense on Tuesday

Valencia fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Fullerton on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 14-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Indians. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Tigers came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Indians are ranked 87th).

Valencia didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Morgan Bollin, Samantha Vasquez, and Jordan Baughman picked up one apiece. Bollin is also on a roll when it comes to defended passes, as she's now defended at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

Having lost for the first time this season, Valencia fell to 6-1. As for Fullerton, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-5.

Looking ahead, Valencia will challenge Segerstrom at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Fullerton, they will take on Orange Lutheran at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lancers' defense has only allowed 5.3 points per game this season, so the Indians' offense will have their work cut out for them.
