IV Section IV recap October 29, 2013
Combs and Amphitheater played the closest game in IV Section IV this week, with Combs eventually emerging with a 31-29 victory.
Seton Catholic took down Chino Valley 47-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kyle Johnson threw for 218 yards and 5 touchdowns in the win.
Mitchell Detente was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Sentinels bested the Cougars. The 5-foot-6 senior grabbed 2 sacks.
He went 11-19 with 0 interceptions.
Antonio Sutherland was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 169 yards as Coronado bested Chino Valley. Teammate Christian Delaney added to the ground attack by rushing for 50 yards.
6-foot-4 quarterback Johnson of Rex Bowser's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,784. He has also thrown 26 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Matt Ramirez. The Florence star has 30 catches for 602 yards.
Antonio Campanella of the the Sentinels is just 97 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 113 carries Campanella has accumulated 903 yard this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Coolidge takes on Florence. The Bears are currently in second, while the Gophers are in third.
The Dons made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,834 from 11,688. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 42-14 victory over Florence last week.
