Volleyball Recap: North Port Falls Despite Big Games from Jaden Davis and Natalie Shelton

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact North Port can now relate to. They fell 3-1 to the Lehigh Lightning on Monday. The Bobcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

While North Port had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-22, 12-25, 25-18.

North Port's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Natalie Shelton, who had 17 digs and three aces, and Jaden Davis, who had 14 digs.

Lehigh found their leader in sophomore Jocelyn Lopez, who had 25 digs and two aces. Lopez has been hot, having also posted 17 or more assists the last five times she's played. Jayda Fleming was another key player, getting 14 kills, 12 digs, and two aces.

North Port's loss dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Lehigh, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.

North Port does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lehigh, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Venice on the 14th.
