Softball Recap: Gustine Sets Scoring Season-High Against Modesto Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gustine). They blew past the Modesto Christian Crusaders 21-3 on Friday. With that win, the Reds brought their scoring average up to 7.2 runs per game.

Gustine got a massive performance out of Jacqueline Chavez, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits Chavez has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Shandel Aguilera, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one triple.

Gustine was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .721. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Gustine's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Modesto Christian, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Gustine will take on Waterford at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Reds are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Modesto Christian, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 23-0 defeat against Mariposa County on the 7th.
