Baseball Game Preview: Poca Dots vs. Nitro Wildcats

Poca hasn't had much luck against Nitro recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Dots will head out to face off against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Poca has given up an average of 15.8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Poca managed to slip by Braxton County the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Dots lost 13-3 to the Eagles last Tuesday. The Dots just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Poca saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Preston Bonnett, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Landon Rawlings also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Nitro challenged Chapmanville Regional on Tuesday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 4-1. The Wildcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Nitro's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Poca, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Poca suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Nitro when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Dots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
