Softball Recap: 12 Straight Home Wins for East Ridge

East Ridge waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Olympia Titans. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by six runs or more this season.

Simmone Hymiller looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, East Ridge got a massive performance out of Lilly Land, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Land has posted since back in March. Veronica Peterson was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

East Ridge pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Olympia, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Ridge will venture away from home to take on Winter Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Knights 3.4, the Bears 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Olympia, they will head out on the road to challenge Lake Brantley at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season.
