Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Rhiannon Rey-Montoya and Esperanza Martinez Lead Tucumcari to Victory

Tucumcari won the last time they faced Estancia and things went their way on Saturday too. The Rattlers blew past the Bears 3-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rattlers.

Tucumcari was led to victory by Esperanza Martinez and Rhiannon Rey-Montoya. Martinez had nine digs and three aces, while Rey-Montoya had six digs and six assists. That's the most digs Rey-Montoya has posted since back in August. Melanie Otero also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

They weren't the only good server: Tucumcari was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. They are 5-1 when they serve at least ten aces.

Tucumcari's record is now 6-4. As for Estancia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

After both having extra time off, Tucumcari and Legacy Academy will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Estancia, they have already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Santa Fe Indian on the 23rd.
