Football Game Preview: Grand Prairie Gophers vs. Lamar Vikings + How To Watch

Two dominant backs in Xavier Clinton and Tayrone Thomas are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Grand Prairie Gophers will be playing at home against the Lamar Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Grand Prairie has given up an average of 48.7 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Grand Prairie is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 35 points last Thursday, they were much more limited against Arlington on Friday. They were beaten by the Colts 49-7. The Gophers haven't had much luck with the Colts recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, Lamar came up short against Bowie on Thursday and fell 45-38. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (35), the Vikings still had to take the loss.

Grand Prairie will have to keep a close watch on Jayden Shaw and Khamill Pruitt, a pair of players who had a big impact on Lamar's prior game. Shaw threw for 137 yards and two touchdowns, while Pruitt picked up 106 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Lamar now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Grand Prairie, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Grand Prairie might still be hurting after the 35-14 loss they got from Lamar in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Gophers were down 28-7.
