Recap: Middletown Middies vs. Lakota East Thunderhawks
The Middletown Middies struggled with assists on Saturday (the Lakota East Thunderhawks had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Middletown might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Lakota East an easy 67-41 win. While losing is never fun, Middletown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 432nd, while Lakota East is ranked 59th).
Middletown lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jamia Jones, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Leila Johnson, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds.
Lakota East's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooke Asher, who scored eight points along with three steals. Asher hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Katlyn Pham, who scored 12 points.
Middletown's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Lakota East, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Middletown will be home for the holidays to greet Mason at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mason is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 62.4 points per game. As for Lakota East, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Oak Hills at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th. Hopefully Oak Hills focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Saturday.
