Football Game Preview: Royse City Bulldogs vs. Rockwall-Heath Hawks

Two dominant signal callers in Jamion Richardson and Prosper Neal are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Royse City Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Rockwall-Heath Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Royse City took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Everything went their way against Tyler Legacy as they made off with a 38-17 win. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 21 points or more this season.

Royse City's receiving core played a big role in the win, headlined by Bryson Arney and Kemarion Clarke. Arney picked up 98 receiving yards and one score while Clarke picked up 78 receiving yards and one touchdown.

One reason for the win was Royse City's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 9.5 sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Chrishon Terry and Herschel Pratt, who racked up 6.5 sacks between them. Terry also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 19. Another thorn in Tyler Legacy's side was Teagon Woods, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made 12 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Rockwall-Heath had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They came within a single point of losing the streak, but they secured a 56-55 W against the Falcons. The Hawks' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Rockwall-Heath's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Royse City, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-2.

Royse City took a serious blow against Rockwall-Heath when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 52-14. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
