Football Game Preview: St. Thomas More Sabers vs. St. Anne Cardinals

The St. Thomas More Sabers will take on the St. Anne Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

St. Thomas More's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Blue Ridge 64-0. The Sabers pushed the score to 52-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Knights had no chance of recovering from.

Meanwhile, St. Anne faced Unity Christian/Mt. Pulaski in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Cardinals really took it to the Lions for the full four quarters, racking up a 54-12 win. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 30 points or more this season.

St. Anne didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Raleigh Hays.

St. Anne pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.0 points on average over those games. As for St. Thomas More, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
