Basketball Game Preview: Eagle Valley Devils vs. Summit Tigers

Eagle Valley is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Monday. They will be playing at home against the Summit Tigers at 5:30 p.m.

Eagle Valley is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest loss since December 6, 2025 on Saturday. They were dealt a 73-27 defeat at the hands of Chatfield. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Devils' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.

Esme Almanza was Eagle Valley's leading scorer, having posted ten points. Terra Hasley held things down on the boards with seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Summit was able to grind out a solid victory over Steamboat Springs on Wednesday, taking the game 37-29. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Sailors: they've now won nine in a row.

Summit's win came from a few key players that Eagle Valley will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jade Close, who posted eight points and eight rebounds. She is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Phoenix Meyer, who had ten points and seven boards.

Eagle Valley's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-7. As for Summit, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Eagle Valley has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 26.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Summit struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 36.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
