Basketball Game Preview: East Burke Cavaliers vs. North Wilkes Vikings

The East Burke Cavaliers will challenge the North Wilkes Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with East Burke sitting on 19 straight wins and North Wilkes on 22.

East Burke is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They really took it to Forest Hills for the full four quarters, racking up a 78-45 victory. The Cavaliers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 18 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, North Wilkes posted their closest win since January 24th on Friday. They skirted past T.W. Andrews 58-55. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Red Raiders are ranked 48th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

East Burke pushed their record up to 30-1 with the victory, which was their 19th straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points over those games. As for North Wilkes, their win bumped their record up to 29-1.
