Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cumby). They had just enough and edged out the Como-Pickton Eagles 16-14. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Trojans considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

The team relied heavily on Jayden Evans, who scored three runs and stole six bases while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Montgomery Benton, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Cumby always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Cumby's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-11. As for Como-Pickton, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 3-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cumby will host Hawkins at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Como-Pickton, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when Como-Pickton Eagles duke it out with Yantis Owls at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
