Recap: Calhoun City Wildcats vs. Water Valley Blue Devils
The Calhoun City Wildcats put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. Everything went their way against Water Valley as Calhoun City made off with a 40-14 victory. The result was nothing new for Calhoun City, who have now won seven matchups by 22 points or more so far this season.
Calhoun City got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jamajah Mayes out in front who rushed for 170 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. Mayes is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. Evan Conlee was another key contributor, rushing for 82 yards and a touchdown.
Despite the loss, Water Valley still got an impressive performance from Jaden Morgan, who rushed for 128 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.1 yards per carry.
Calhoun City's win was their 12th straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. As for Water Valley, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Calhoun City will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Palmer at 7:00 p.m. Palmer will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while Calhoun City is ranked 54th). As for Water Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Bruce at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
