Given Smyrna's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while Boyd Christian is ranked 326th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tyreque Mccarver was the offensive standout of the match as he scored 19 points along with 3 steals. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Elliyon Kinzer was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with 3 steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Smyrna and bumps their season record up to 3-1. As for Boyd Christian, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Smyrna will head out on the road to face off against Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 334 points over their last five contests. As for Boyd Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Rhea County at 6:00 p.m.
