Basketball Game Preview: Sesser-Valier/Waltonville Red Devils vs. Goreville Blackcats

Sesser-Valier/Waltonville hasn't had much luck against Goreville recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Sesser-Valier/Waltonville Red Devils will welcome the Goreville Blackcats at 6:00 p.m. Sesser-Valier/Waltonville will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.

On Saturday, Sesser-Valier/Waltonville strolled past Trico with points to spare, taking the game 47-30.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Goreville). They came out on top against Hardin County by a score of 49-37 on Tuesday.

Goreville's win came from a few key players Sesser-Valier/Waltonville will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jaidyn Wiesen, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in steals (seven). Lydia Kwiatkowski was another key player, putting up 15 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Goreville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Goreville's win bumped their record up to 2-18. As for Sesser-Valier/Waltonville, they have also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.
