Softball Game Preview: Fountain Central Mustangs vs. South Vermillion Wildcats

Fountain Central is 0-10 against South Vermillion since April of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Mustangs will look to defend their home field against the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Fountain Central came up short against Crawfordsville on Saturday, falling 19-9.

Jacquelynn Weber made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Mallory Massey, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, South Vermillion fell victim to Riverton Parke and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They lost 10-0 to the Panthers. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Wildcats' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

South Vermillion's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Fountain Central, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Fountain Central's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. The Mustangs have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for South Vermillion, though, as they've been averaging only 0.5 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Fountain Central continue to outrun the ball?
