The Mira Loma Matadors will square off against the Foresthill Wildfires at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Mira Loma comes in on 11 and Foresthill on four.
Mira Loma is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They took down Delta 48-34.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Deangelo Keys and Chase Parkinson. Keys had a great game and rushed for 111 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries. Meanwhile, Parkinson was balling out in the loss, rushing for 78 yards and three TDs, while also throwing for 131 yards and one touchdown.
Meanwhile, Foresthill's offense rose to the challenge against a Falcons defense that boasted an average of only 10.5 points allowed on Friday. The Wildfires blew past Vacaville Christian 35-13. The result was nothing new for the Wildfires, who have now won seven matchups by 22 points or more so far this season.
Mira Loma better keep an eye on Vincent Navarro. He was instrumental in Foresthill's win, rushing for 446 yards and three scores while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. Navarro is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 147 every time he's taken the field this season. Shayne Falkenberg was another key player, gaining 153 total yards and two touchdowns.
Foresthill was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 540 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 197 rushing yards in ten consecutive games.
Foresthill didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Caleb Anderson and Waylon Gossic. Anderson also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 16.
Mira Loma's victory bumped their record up to 11-0. As for Foresthill, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.
Saturday's contest might be decided on the ground. Mira Loma has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 208.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Foresthill struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 270.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Mira Loma strolled past Foresthill in their previous matchup back in October by a score of 28-13. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Navarro, who rushed for 163 yards and one TD while picking up 8.2 yards per carry.
