Wolfe County is 9-1 against Hazard since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Wolves will be playing at home against the Bulldogs / Lady Bulldogs at 12:00 p.m. Wolfe County will be strutting in after a win while Hazard will be coming in after a loss.
Wolfe County barely beat Breathitt County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wolves never let the Bobcats get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory on Wednesday. Considering the Wolves have won 13 contests by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Sami Noble made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chloy Creech, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Reaghan Patton was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Wolfe County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive games.
Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Hazard's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Perry County Central by a score of 4-3.
Hazard saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Halle Jones, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Wolfe County has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hazard, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-8.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Wolfe County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .360. However, it's not like Hazard struggles in that department as they've averaged .350. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Wolfe County took their victory against Hazard in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 8-0 score. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs / Lady Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
