Softball Game Preview: Jonesboro Eagles vs. Crawford Pirates

Jonesboro hasn't had much luck against Crawford recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Pirates at 6:00 p.m. Crawford took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Jonesboro, who comes in off a win.

Jonesboro is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Hamilton with a sharp 18-1 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Eagles have won five games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Crawford fell victim to Moody and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bearcats. Considering the last time the Pirates couldn't score was back in February, the team can't take the result too hard.

Crawford saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kenzley Taylor, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Jonesboro is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Crawford, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.

Jonesboro couldn't quite get it done against Crawford in their previous matchup back in March as they fell 11-7. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
