Softball Game Preview: Green Bobcats vs. South Point Pointers

Green hasn't had much luck against South Point recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bobcats will square off against the Pointers at 5:30 p.m. Green has given up an average of 12 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Green's offense. They lost 11-0 to Clay on Wednesday. The Bobcats just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Meanwhile, South Point made easy work of Piketon on Wednesday and carried off a 9-1 win.

Kota Copley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

At the plate, Saratina Jackson and Josie Kidd did most of the damage at the plate: Jackson went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Kidd went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those four RBI gave Jackson a new career-high. Kyleigh Castle also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: South Point kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Green's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for South Point, their record now sits at 3-1.

Green suffered a grim 16-0 defeat to South Point when the teams last played on Thursday. Can the Bobcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
