Basketball Game Preview: Martinsville Pirates vs. Laneville Yellowjackets

The Martinsville Pirates and the Laneville Yellowjackets will compete for holiday cheer at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Martinsville will be strutting in after a win while Laneville will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Tuesday, Martinsville beat Apple Springs 49-41.

Meanwhile, Laneville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against Centerville, falling 87-25. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1585th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 434th).

Martinsville's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-9. As for Laneville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.

Martinsville couldn't quite finish off Laneville in their previous matchup back in January and fell 52-49. Can Martinsville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
