Recap: El Camino Eagles vs. McQueen Lancers

The El Camino Eagles pushed their score all the way to 64 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of McQueen by a score of 67-64. While losing is never fun, El Camino can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 933rd in California, while McQueen is ranked 55th in Nevada).

Loss or not, El Camino got some senior leadership from Justin Watts who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points and 2 assists and Donovin Rolph who scored 19 points. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Martin, who scored ten points.

This is the second loss in a row for El Camino and nudges their season record down to 5-10. As for McQueen, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. El Camino and Capital Christian will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Jaylen Valdez and Demetrious Perry. McQueen and South Tahoe will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. South Tahoe is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
