Basketball Recap: Dorman's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

If Dorman was riding high fresh off their 75-43 takedown of Boiling Springs last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Dorman Cavaliers took a 62-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Riverside Warriors on Tuesday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cavaliers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 60-44 back in December of 2024.

Dorman's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Morgan White, who went 11 for 15 en route to 22 points in addition to seven boards and three blocks. The match was White's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Makayla Moore was another key player, going 6 of 9 on her way to 15 points along with seven steals and six assists.

Even though they lost, Dorman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in nine consecutive contests.

Elly Trickett was her usual excellent self, going 5 for 10 en route to 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals for Riverside. Another player making a difference was Sophia Powell, who posted 13 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Dorman's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-6. As for Riverside, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-6.

Dorman and Riverside should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings. Dorman (ranked 16th) will meet Spartanburg (ranked 88th) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Dorman is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. Meanwhile, Riverside will square off against Wade Hampton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday up 167 places (28 vs. 195). Dorman is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.5 points per game this season.
