Cibola had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They took down the Eldorado Golden Eagles 70-51. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 49th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cibola has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Eldorado, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

The future could be bright for both Cibola and Eldorado: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Cibola will look to extend Atrisco Heritage Academy's three-game losing streak when the meet at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Similarly, Eldorado will try to hand Manzano their seventh-straight loss when the two meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
