Recap: Concord Yellowjackets vs. Lenawee Christian Cougars
After a string of four wins, the Concord Yellowjackets's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 66-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lenawee Christian. While losing is never fun, Concord can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while Lenawee Christian is ranked 64th).
Mekhi Wingfield and Jordan Medellin certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Wingfield scored 23 points, while Medellin scored 14 points. The match was Wingfield's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Darrell Dean jr., who scored six points.
Concord's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Lenawee Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Concord will take on Reading at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Reading has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Lenawee Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Britton Deerfield at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
