Softball Recap: Oliver Springs Takes a Loss

Oliver Springs's last matchup with Coalfield could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Tuesday. The Bobcats lost 17-11 to the Yellow Jackets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellow Jackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-3 back in March.

Hannah McKinney was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-5 with two RBI. Kennedy Weber was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

Oliver Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Coalfield, they pushed their record up to 12-2-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Oliver Springs will challenge Wartburg Central at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Coalfield, they will square off against Jellico at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.36 runs per game on average), something the Yellow Jackets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
