Football Recap: Cesar Chavez Comes Up Short Despite Curtis Johnson's Big Defensive Game + How To Watch

After flying high against South Mountain last Friday, Cesar Chavez came back down to earth. The Champions lost to the Queen Creek Bulldogs on the road by a 36-18 margin on Friday. The Champions have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Cesar Chavez didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Curtis Johnson, Tyvous Spencer, Gilbert Martinez, and Hill Hallback picked up one apiece. Cesar Chavez got some further help from Tyes Graves: he picked up 1.5 sacks and made 12 total tackles.

Queen Creek's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kayden Kellogg, who picked up 54 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Those 54 receiving yards gave Kellogg a new career-high. Jaden Gearing handled things on the ground, rushing for 83 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Cesar Chavez now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Queen Creek, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.
