Basketball Recap: Julian Tweedy and Aidan Rousseau Secure Win for Cary Academy

Cary Academy lost to South Wake back in January of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Cary Academy Chargers came out on top against the South Wake Sabres by a score of 64-56. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Chargers.

Leading Cary Academy to victory were Aidan Rousseau and Julian Tweedy. Rousseau dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards, while Tweedy almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. The match was Tweedy's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Champ Lando, who posted ten points and five rebounds.

Despite the loss, South Wake still got an impressive performance from Noah Wright, who went 6 for 11 en route to 17 points and six boards. Wright has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Lawson Jurgens, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Cary Academy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points per game. As for South Wake, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cary Academy will square off against Durham Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for South Wake, they will face off against St. David's at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
