Softball Recap: Strasburg-Franklin Drops Season-High Score on Malvern

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Strasburg-Franklin). They blew past the Malvern Hornets 19-0 on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Miley Reifenschneider made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Reifenschneider was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Addy Sibila was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ella Gilkerson, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.

Strasburg-Franklin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .541. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory (which was Strasburg-Franklin's third in a row) raised their record to 12-8. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Malvern, they dropped their record down to 4-15 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight at home.

Coming up, Malvern will welcome Conotton Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rockets have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season. Strasburg-Franklin will be paying especially close attention to Malvern's match: after Malvern faces off against Conotton Valley, they'll take on Strasburg-Franklin again at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
