Softball Recap: Tumwater Drops Season-High Score on Shelton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tumwater). They put the hurt on the Shelton Highclimbers with a sharp 25-3 win on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Thunderbirds in their matchups with the Highclimbers: they've now won nine in a row.

The team relied heavily on Cassie McCartney, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Erika Schock also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Tumwater was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .588. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Tumwater's record now sits at 8-2. As for Shelton, their defeat was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-10.

Coincidentally, Tumwater and Shelton will both be playing Aberdeen the next time they take the field. The Thunderbirds will head out to face the Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Highclimbers will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
