Softball Recap: Romeo Wins Going Away Against Port Huron

After only one run in their last match, Romeo made sure to put some runs up on the board against Port Huron on Friday. The Bulldogs blew past the Red Hawks 11-0. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won three contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Romeo got a great performance from Emily Dawson as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Dawson has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ava Yaklin and Jess McLeod did most of the damage at the plate: Yaklin scored two runs while going 2-for-2, while McLeod scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Yaklin also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Bailey Anton was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Romeo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Port Huron only posted a batting average of .000.

Romeo's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Port Huron, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Coming up, Romeo will be playing at home against Chippewa Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Port Huron, they will head out to square off against Center Line at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
