Soccer Game Preview: FAU High vs. Cardinal Newman

The FAU High Owls will challenge the Cardinal Newman Crusaders at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

FAU High took a three-goal loss the last time they faced off against Boynton Beach, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Owls' defense stepped up to hand the Tigers a 1-0 shutout on Thursday. FAU High's winning goal came courtesy of Wyatt Lauritano.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cardinal Newman, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Westminster Academy on Monday, sneaking past 1-0. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Cardinal Newman were the better team in the second half.

Cardinal Newman now has a winning record of 2-1. As for FAU High, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Everything went FAU High's way against Cardinal Newman in their previous meeting back in December of 2021, as FAU High made off with a 5-1 victory. Will the Owls repeat their success, or do the Crusaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
