Basketball Recap: Sidonia Wattier's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Norfolk Catholic over Ponca

Norfolk Catholic came up into this matchup off a tough 26-point defeat on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Ponca Indians by a score of 49-46 on Friday. The Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Indians earlier this season, when they won 44-30.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sidonia Wattier, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten boards. Ava Wemhoff was another key player, putting up 12 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Norfolk Catholic and nudges their season record down to 6-16. As for Ponca, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-12.

Coming up, Norfolk Catholic will face off against Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Ponca does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
