Baseball Recap: Whitney Finds Playoff Glory Versus Pitman

It's playoff time, and Whitney had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Pitman Pride 9-0 on Wednesday. Nine seems to be a good number for the Wildcats as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Zach Laduzinski looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Whitney let Noah Warner and Bryce Farris run wild. Warner went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Farris went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Warner has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Mendoza, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Whitney kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matchups.

Whitney has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Pitman, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-16.

Coming up, Whitney will challenge Rodriguez at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. Pitman does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
