East Wake Academy proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by seven) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Franklin Academy Patriots 8-6. The victory was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won four matchups in a row.

Brianna McCrea made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Emma DeJoseph was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Avery Schmidt, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

East Wake Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
