Baseball Recap: Bellevue West Extends Winning Streak to Three

Bellevue West extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping their season record up to 20-9 in the process. They put the hurt on the Omaha Central Eagles with a sharp 9-1 victory. This was a revenge game for the Thunderbirds: when they faced off against the Eagles last Friday, they had to take a 7-2 defeat.

Cole Madden spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aiden Ensor, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Zack Pinneo, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

As for Omaha Central, their loss dropped their record down to 14-16. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Omaha Central's side, Boe Di Lorenzo was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, Di Lorenzo gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April.

At the plate, Omaha Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joe Dougherty, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Bellevue West will face off against Millard North at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The last five games the Mustangs have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Omaha Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
