Basketball Recap: Trennon Abraham's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Chaputnguak over Chevak

If Chaputnguak was feeling good fresh off their 78-36 takedown of Tuluksak last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Chaputnguak Shaman came up short against the Chevak Comets on Thursday, falling 69-45. The Shaman have struggled against the Comets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Chaputnguak's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trennon Abraham, who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Darren Mathew, who had 11 points.

Chaputnguak now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Chevak, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Chaputnguak didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-61 defeat against Emmonak on the 31st. Chevak has also already played their next game, a 69-45 win against Tournament Opponent on the 30th.
