Basketball Game Preview: Wylie East Raiders vs. Wylie Pirates

Wylie East hasn't had much luck against Wylie recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wylie East Raiders will host the Wylie Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Wylie East knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Wylie likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Wylie East made easy work of Garland and carried off a 67-42 victory. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 224th, while the Owls are ranked 1205th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Wylie, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They strolled past Lakeview Centennial with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 66-47.

Wylie has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Wylie East, they pushed their record up to 13-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Wylie East ended up a good deal behind Wylie when the teams last played back in January of 2024, losing 45-30. Can Wylie East avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
