Volleyball Recap: Valley Starts Season with Victory Against Symmes Valley

Valley had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Symmes Valley Vikings 3-0 on Tuesday. That's more bragging rights for the Indians, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Valley took every set by at least 16 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-6, 25-9, 25-9.

Valley can attribute much of their success to Mya Williams, who had six blocks, five kills, three digs, and three aces. Those three aces gave Williams a new career-high.

Williams wasn't the only good server: Valley was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in four consecutive games dating back to last season.

Symmes Valley dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Green on the 20th. As for Symmes Valley, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Notre Dame on the 20th.
