Baseball Game Preview: Angleton Wildcats vs. La Porte Bulldogs

The Angleton Wildcats will square off against the La Porte Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Angleton 2.8, La Porte 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Angleton headed into their last game having not scored more than two runs for four straight, but Iowa Colony let them put that streak behind them. The Wildcats blew past the Pioneers 11-4 on Tuesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Kade Dobbs made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Del Hierro, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kade Estrada, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, La Porte entered their tilt with Santa Fe on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They had just enough and edged out the Indians 4-2.

Angleton's victory bumped their record up to 10-11-1. As for La Porte, their win bumped their record up to 14-10.
