Baseball Recap: Providence Christian Picks Up 12th Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Providence Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Houston Academy Raiders on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Raiders last Thursday, they had to take a 5-4 defeat.

Nicolas Morton looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Providence Christian: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 1-2 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Tyler Sharp was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Hudson Deer also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Providence Christian pushed their record up to 3-3 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs over those games. As for Houston Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Coming up, Providence Christian will host Tallassee at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Houston Academy, they will face off against Slocomb at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Houston Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
