Preview: James Madison Warhawks vs. Freedom Eagles
James Madison has been on the road for five straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Freedom Eagles at 5:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Virginia (James Madison is ranked 115th, while Freedom is ranked 121st).
James Madison's 25-4 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 49-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ponte Vedra on Friday.
Meanwhile, Freedom scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Hylton 53-10 at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Freedom has managed all season.
Freedom relied on the efforts of Keilana Johnson, who scored 12 points along with four steals and four blocks, and Keilani Johnson, who scored 20 points along with seven assists and five steals. That's the first time this season that Johnson posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Price, who scored eight points.
James Madison's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Freedom, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-4.
