Baseball Recap: Lincolnwood Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Lincolnwood hadn't done well against Gillespie recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Lincolnwood came out on top against Gillespie by a score of 8-5. The Lancers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Mason Tryon was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Tryon was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Donny Daugherty, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Drew Gilpin, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Lincolnwood's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-3. As for Gillespie, they now also have a losing record of 2-3.

Looking ahead, Lincolnwood will host North Mac at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Gillespie has already played their next match (against Heyworth), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
